Georgia Baptist Convention- Partnership Opportunities in Russia

Click on the title above for another message in video from Dr. J. Robert White, Executive Director of the Georgia Baptist Convention, about their partnership with the churches in Moscow and Saint Petersburg for planting new churches.

"Blessings" article- Sing Unto the Lord

This article was personal, so I thought I would reference it:

Dear Partners,
I stood in awe and tears rolled down my face as I listened to two beautiful prayers. A couple of ladies knelt before the church and cried prayers of repentance and forgiveness while brothers and sisters in Christ stood by them in support.

Last Sunday, we had the opportunity to witness spiritual gifts at work. Olga Sergeyevna has been teaching at Golgotha Baptist Church in Moscow for a number of years. Our IMB team asked her a few months ago to write a Bible study on “Spiritual Gifts”, and it is being translated into English for a new ministry. Olga Sergeyevna brought a friend of hers to the service. After a highly evangelistic worship service where Boris Berezhnoi, the lead singer for the Russian Christian music group Blagovestie, had shared the gospel in word and song for about an hour, an invitation was given. It was a joy to see Olga Sergeyevna literally push her friend forward to accept Christ publicly. When she did, many in the service began to weep tears of joy. Another visitor at the church ran forward to bow on her knees and give her life to Christ, too. It was a joyous day to see the spiritual gifts of teaching and evangelism displayed for the glory of Christ!

What a gorgeous sight it was! We are thankful for servants like Olga and Boris who use their gifts to edify the church. More importantly we give glory to God for saving souls. The church sang enthusiastically along with Boris: “May Russia bow before You!” It was amazing to see such a request being answered right before my eyes.

Rejoice with us,
Les

ХРИСТОС ВОСКРЕС!

ХРИСТОС ВОСКРЕС! Christ is risen!
ВОИСТИНУ ВОСКРЕС! He is risen indeed!

Amielle and her friends took part in a drama production in the Easter service at Golgotha Baptist Church in Moscow. I have uploaded a short family video. Happy Easter!

Russian meetings

Buck was invited this week to a Russian meeting on the topic of missionary service. Many evangelical organizational leaders from Moscow were present. We are hearing about some great plans for sharing the Gospel in European Russia and Moscow.

I have heard that it is healthy for missionaries to blend into the culture where they serve. Part of the Russian culture is very serious in nature. And this meeting was just that, thus the look on Buck's face. Thanks for your prayers as we seek to partner with these believers.

Church Fellowship

We had another wonderful day at church. Our family looks forward to Sundays as Luke is involved in his classes, Amielle is practicing for an Easter Sunday drama production and Ashlyn is spending time with the young people. Even though it is a long day for us, we are eager to be with the local believers at Golgotha.

Leaving home early, we arrive and Buck prays with the pastors and brothers first thing. The service starts at 10:00 and dismisses by 12:30 for a time of tea and cheese bread. At 1:00 we attend our various Sunday school classes. I am so thrilled to be a part of a ladies class on the third floor. The teacher asked that I sit in, so we can consult with one another about the lessons and new ideas for her class. They all welcomed me to their group; I praise the Lord for new relationships.

Then at 2:00-3:00 our family participates in the English Bible study. We are seeing growth in number and learning. Yesterday I was pleased as I was able to translate more vocabulary in Russian. Translating the Bible study lessons during the week has been helpful. Though Buck teaches the lessons, the ladies in the class seek my help with words and phrases as we all work together to understand more about Spiritual gifts.

We really miss out on a noon meal, so I always pack a picnic lunch to tie us over until we travel home. However, if we stay for extra meetings, we are welcome to eat a prepared meal for those ministering all day. The ladies in the kitchen already love Ashlyn as she and her new friend help clean the social hall and kitchen after hours. The other day I saw one of the girls toting a mop bucket. All of this activity together makes a church fellowship!

I uploaded some photos for us all to enjoy, and please continue to pray. Praise God for Golgotha Baptist Church.
In His Love,
Les
